Since when did stamps get so boring? I feel like over the years the postage seems to go up but the creativity seems to go down . Before the use of adhesive stamps which were invented in 1837, letters were hand stamped or postmarked with ink. If you venture over to ebay you can find some of the coolest old stamps that have so much character to them. An awesome thing to do now is to put these on your wedding invites which can add a whole new element to them when paired with some custom calligraphy. You might end up paying a little more than anticipated for postage though, since a 30 cent stamp can cost around 75 cents. Just make sure to always get your invitations hand canceled otherwise you are likely to end up with the "tire tracks" from the machines that do them these days.
